Dinosaur National Monument June 8, 2018

On our way home from visiting the Bells in Colorado we made a stop in Jensen, UT (just outside of Vernal, UT) to visit Dinosaur National Monument. I have always wanted to visit here so I was glad we stopped. It is a really cool place.

Earl Douglass, a paleontologist from the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, PA, discovered eight tail vertebrae of an Apatosaurus in 1909. This led to the eventual discovery of remains of 10 different species of dinosaurs at the Quarry.
Instead of removing all the bones Earl Douglass left the quarry wall for an exhibit for the public to enjoy. The quarry exhibit hall is highlighted below.

This is the guide to the fossil bones at the Quarry exhibit hall.
One of many sections.

We took a 1.2 mile hike on the fossil discovery trail and were able to discover some fossils.

Our visit to Corey and Yoli's June 2-8, 2018 Part 2

On Thursday we drove to Colorado Springs to go to
Cave of the Winds.

They had this crazy slide that you had to climb up through all these levels to get to the slide. It was all stretchy and very hard for the girls to maneuver through so Corey finally went inside and helped the girls up each level. He said it was really hard.

Hailey and Leah said the slide down was really fun.

Corey said it was really tight!

Ready for our cave tour.

Leah and Hailey thought it was really cool when they were told they were inside of a mountain.

The earliest tour groups had to climb this rope ladder to continue on their tour. Originally the tour groups carried candles but had to blow them out to climb the ladder.

This was the only rock they could touch at the end of the tour.

They each took home a bag of gems.
